Frutiger Arabic was designed by Lebanese designer Nadine Chahine in collaboration with Adrian Frutiger who was the designer of Frutiger, the Latin typeface upon which Frutiger Arabic is based.
It comprises of the Arabic Kufi style, and incorporates elements of Ruqaa and Naskh designs in the letter form. The result is a humanist Kufi, in that it adapts the standard form to add handwriting structures and a slight modulation to give a more informal and friendlier version of the normally highly structured and geometric Kufi styles.
Like Latin Frutiger, the design is suited to a variety of applications including low-resolution display devices, advertising headlines, corporate identity and branding applications. The font comes with Latin Frutiger as well as support for the Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages, and includes proportional and tabular numerals, as well as condensed weights.
